Who is running this show.
Uncle Dave Cox (1947–2008)
The Original. World BBQ Champion. Jonesboro, AR.
David "Uncle Dave" Cox won the 1991 World Championship BBQ Cooking Contest at Memphis in May with the recipe that's in every bottle of Cox Rub today. He spent his life feeding family and friends, telling stories, and giving everyone within earshot a good time. He passed in 2008. His legend lives on with everyone who ever sat at his table — and now, with everyone who picks up a bottle of his rub.
"He was one of the most entertaining folks you've ever been around. We miss him dearly."

The trophy. Still in the family.
David Stover
Founder. Nephew. Pitmaster-in-Training. Texas.
David is Uncle Dave's nephew and the founder of Cox BBQ, LLC. He grew up in Texas with his mom's side of the family in Arkansas, which makes every football season interesting. He started Cox BBQ to keep Uncle Dave's recipe alive and to share it with people who never got to meet him.
When he's not running the business, you can find him at the smoker, or arguing with his wife about whose turn it is to do the dishes. (Per the Values page: he should help.)
