"Doing things the right way."

Here's the short version: We make a great product, and we treat our customers with respect.

I could give you a bunch of buzzwords like 'honesty' and 'integrity' etc., but I like to tell stories so here's one for you:

I was raised in the south. My mom's family is from Arkansas and I grew up next door in Texas. So when the big interstate rivalry game is on, half of my family is yelling "Woo Pig Sooie!" at the TV, the other half of us are yelling "Texas Fight!". Truly we are a 'house divided' when it comes to college sports. But when it comes to everything else, we are a 'house united'.

So when it's time for a family reunion (a.k.a. 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas) we are all united in the goal of making killer food while listening to great music.

That means:

• Showing up on time.
• Bringing the side dish you volunteered to bring.
• Helping set the table.
• Helping serve drinks. (Can someone bring an extra bag of ice?)
• Sharing the bluetooth radio. (Some of us are better DJ's than others.)
• Helping Uncle Dave with the smoker. (I need another chunk of wood for the fire!)
• Helping the little cousins load their plates.
• Helping the little cousins clean their faces afterwards.
• (Lots of help needed for these events… you know.)
• Helping eat the last of the baked beans off my wife's plate so they don't end up in the trash.
• Helping put the leftovers in containers.
• Helping do the dishes.

We say 'Please' & 'Thank you'. We say 'Yes sir!' & 'Yes ma'am!'. We help each other out and show respect to everyone.

And if we aren't together as a family to see Texas beat Arkansas in football, we call on the phone afterwards and scream "HOOK'EM!!!" and then hang up real fast.

That's doing things 'the right way'. \m/
